HOW TO OVERCOME INSTAGRAM INSIGHTS DATA CHANGES (MINDSET MATTERS) | SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

Are you a Creative Entrepreneur and Content Creator? Do you often find yourself getting frustrated, dismayed, or annoyed by the constant changes that Instagram makes especially with algorithms and insights?

Does this often throw you off to the point that you feel defeated? You start to feel as though despite all your best Social Media Marketing and Content Creation efforts that you are not receiving the recognition you deserve?

You are not the only one and it is understandable to feel that way. In this blog post I want to focus on your emotional response and how you respond to change. This with the hopes to help you look beyond external factors and to approach those changes with a different approach.

First of all let me start with a few questions for you to consider further;

1. What is it that frustrates you the most about the changes Instagram makes?

2. How does it make you feel when the changes occur and why?

3. How do the changes impact on you and in raising further awareness about your brand?

4. What do you fear most will happen as the results of these changes?

5. What about your emotions? How do you often respond to change emotionally? What sort of action are you most likely to take when change occurs?

6. Who are you creating your content for and why? When you write content are you driven by what excites you most and in order to get noticed for your work? Or do you create in order to help others, for instance ideal clients?

7. Do you understand your ideal clients needs and the solutions they are looking for? Do you often provide these solutions, as part of your content creation process?

The reason I wanted to ask you the questions above, is to enable you to potentially consider more about how you respond and react to change. Also to assess where your focus and attention is when it comes to developing and building your personal brand online. Your emotional responses can help, or hinder your creativity and productivity in achieving greater successful outcomes. What you focus your attention on grows.

MY LESSONS LEARNT:

1. There is a psychology behind everything we do, which is linked to how you mentally response and adjust to change. For instance, do you become defeated, or more driven to create better content when social media platforms changes occur?

Most successful people approach change with a positive and optimistic outlook and this approach is learned through years of investing in self-development. A self-development process which is intended to help with overcoming self-limiting beliefs, in building resilience and confidence.

2. We are all renters on Social Media Platforms  and creating content on borrowed territory which does not belong to us. Therefore, it is beneficial for you  not become fully dependent on Social Media Platforms as your end goal for your Creative Entrepreneurship venture. It is advisable to diversity your Social Media Content Portfolio to 2-3 other platforms including sites (Podcasts, Youtube, Pinterest, LinkedIn) as a back plan.

Your Followers on Social Media Platforms are not yours to keep, they belong to Social Media Owners. It is better to invest time in building your own email list, just in case you can no longer access your Social Media Platform. So that you have other ways you can communicate with some of your Social Media Followers.

Choose Social Media Platforms you will invest time and energy in, creating consistent content for your audience and prospective clients. It is also worth eventually, which platform your ideal audience and network hangouts most on.

3. Creator Profiles - Instagram intentionally removed likes matrics to minimise the mental health related risk associated with vanity matrix, especially with younger audiences. Also to enable creators to focus more on showcasing and enhancing their talents and skills. This alleviate pressures and entices more people to remain focused creating valuable content. Keeping mind still the analytics as guide and not letting the results weigh you down emotionally.

Building relationship on Social Media Platforms takes time. You have to be willing to invest time in nurturing and building authentic relationships. You can't expect people to invest in you for instance, ignore them when they comment on your post. Or you do not mutually reciprocate especially after they have invested time in reaching out to you. It is important to invest in reciprocating when you are starting out.

4. Focus on solutions rather than immediate problems:

Be mindful of the what you focus your attention on. For instance, if you are too focused emotionally on the how the changes is impacting you, rather than on your key strengths in being more valuable content, the likelihood is that you will become distracted, defeated and feel as though you are failing. Which is a false representation and not a true reflection, as the changes with Instagram are external factors you can control.

The only constant that will remain through time and is you, your Life Vision Plan and Goals.

Matrices are only there as a foundation and tool to help guide you and not to control or determine your life (including opportunities). Focus on coming from a place of abundance, gratitude and fulfilment. This approach will help you remain on the right course and path to excelling further with your entrepreneurship success goals and in growing your brand overtime. The more you focus on creating empathetic and content which resonates with your audience the better. The psychology to  social media is not the technical factors but the meaningful relationships you develop.

Be patient with time. Overtime you will start to achieve the results you are looking on your Social Media Platform.  You will also be rewarded accordingly and equal to the value you have provided.

What solutions should you focus on?
  • If you have a Social Media Kit  you can amend it, to reflect the social media changes which could potential impact on your social media analytical data. The brand reviewing your kit will then in the position to keep this in mind. This will in turn, alleviate some pressure off you, as its an external factor impacting on which you can't control.
  • Review your current and historical Social Media Analytics to assess which type of content your audience engaged with most. Focus on curating more similar content to maintain the connection with your audience. Focus on strengthening your content creation skills to the point that your audience starts to engage with your content.  Beyond, is working on a goal whereby your some of your audience members becomes your voluntary champions that are willing to share you content with others.

Look at Social Media Platforms as a new challenge to help you step up your content creation skills.

5. Pay to Play: As with any online entrepreneurship venture you may need to invest in paid ADs once in a while to increase brand awareness, especially if you have an urgent need for people to become aware of your of products and services.

6. Focus on Your Reason Why: It is so easy to get lost in the instafame virtual reality games, which can result in negatively impacting on one's mindset and well-being. Your Reason Why and Life Vision will help you to remain grounded and focused greater goals beyond Social Media Platforms.

Your relationships is not with the data, its with the people who you want to connect with your content. The time you invest on mutually engaging also matters.

It is essential to pay attention to how emotively you are driven by changes in life,  Instagram is just one case in example of how you are most likely to respond to change in other aspects of your life. The truth of the matter for Creative Entrepreneurs is that change is inevitable and it is part and parcel of the entrepreneurship life, as nothing is ever guaranteed. Part of the entrepreneurship lifestyle means also adapting to changes, which are beyond our control. For instance, technical glitches, faults, upgrades, or errors that occur in the digital realm and on social media platforms. Change is expected and should be accepted as a given and that it will occur. Some of the change that occurs will be beyond your personal control.

It is about focusing on what you can control and always being in the driving seat of your own emotions and destiny.
