CONFIDENT PEOPLE ARE THE MOST SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE? | MINDSET MATTERS

This blog post topic was inspired by a Podpean Entrepreneurship Podcast discussion on Confidence and Success Mindset Matters. Unfortunately, I cannot recall the name of the podcast or speakers. This topic got me thinking about how we as individuals define success in modern times. Based observations on Social Media, success can sometimes appear to be driven by materialistic possessions; what someone has able to purchase or afford which is then valued by the masses a measure of being successful. For example, how many homes a person owns, the area they live in, the designers clothes they wear and how often they are able to travel.

This perception in turn can add more pressure on people who have not developed their own internal core self-esteem and sense of self-worth. It is easy to believe that you are failing in life as result of not being able to obtain materialistic things.

Could the current pandemic change our views and perception of what success is and how is it measured?

According to Fast Company Magazine they found that  4.8 million Americans described themselves as Digital Nomads, and an additional 17 million hoped to one day have this lifestyle. Before the current 2020 pandemic there was an increasing number of Digital Nomads (new age innovative free thinkers and independent lifestyle seekers) who began to redefine what true success looks likes and how it is measured.

These group of people seek happiness, freedom and life experiences over materialistic things. They also are also more self-aware of their sense of self-worth and self-esteem.  We are the people who define success based on being able to fulfill our internal well-being by pursing our true Life Passions, Life Vision and Purpose. These people fit in the category of what is known as Digital Nomads. For Digital Nomads like me, our success goal is to strive for internal happiness and to focus on growth from within.

Confidence for is a state of mind and is based on the goals you set and achieve for yourself .

𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐓:

As a confident person you are most likely to become successful if you;
1. Challenge yourself often in overcoming yourself self-limiting beliefs/fears which hold you back from becoming your best self.  ⠀
2. Believe in yourself, goals, skills and ability to become successful. Even though you might have struggle with some self-limiting believes you learn how to master self-confidence in order to pursue your life goals.
3. Do not rely on external validation from others to be yourself. You are driven by your Life Vision, Passion and Life Purpose rather than social, cultural and financial pressures. You do not limitations in what you can achieve even if you do not have what you need at that given moment.
4. You are confident in saying “NO,” to opportunities which don’t align with your core values and vision. This can result in you not having many friends and you are comfortable with this, as it enables you to focus fully on your success goals.
5. Measure success based on goals you have set for yourself rather through Social & Cultural Pressure. You are able to move beyond what is expected of you and to start following your trend. This can sometimes result in others being disappointed in your and not fully understanding your intentions or goals.
6. The reason success becomes easier for you going forward is due to patience, repetition, consistency and taking actionYou also appreciate that success doesn’t happen overnight.
7. You understand that being successful doesn’t necessarily mean having lots of financial and materialistic things. You define success based on personal challenges you are able to overcome.
8. You focus on continuous personal development and refining your skills. This is what enables you to become more confident within yourself overtime.
9. You view rejection as a means to challenge yourself even more. You do not see rejection as a failure rather as a lessons learnt. ⠀
𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄 📝 You can still be shy (an introvert) and become successful. Shy people are often discounted as being successful due to the demeanor. Whilst a confident person may appear as the go getter, keep in mind that they might also be putting up appearances and not be as confident and successful in the background.

Lastly, success is based on the goals you achieve. Remember that materialistic things do not define who you are as a person, in terms of success levels. You can have all the materialistic items and belongings in the world, and still not feel confident or fulfilled within yourself.

Success starts from work you do within your inner core.
