INSTAGRAM LAUNCHES QR CODES (NEW FEATURE UPDATE) | SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

Instagram is rolling out QR codes to its Social Media platform. The new features will enable you as a Creative Entrepreneur and/or Small Business to generate your own QR codes that will be scannable via most phone cameras. Creating your own QR Code will have its benefits in terms of raising further awareness about your brand and increasing growth/engagement. It will maximise on instantaneous efficiency and effectiveness on your audience and prospective clients no longer needing to manually search for your account, they can just scan your code. 



What is a QR Code? 

According to Wikipedia a "QR barcode is a machine-readable optical label that contains information about the item to which it is attached. QR codes often contain data for a locator, identifier, or tracker that points to a website or application. It a quick response system and its applications include product tracking, item identification, time tracking, document management and general marketing." 

People can scan QR barcodes via Mobile Phones.

Follow these following steps from Hubspot on how to create your QR Code: 

  1. Select a QR code generator.
  2. Choose the type of content you're promoting.
  3. Enter your data in the form that appears.
  4. Consider downloading a dynamic QR code.
  5. Customize it.
  6. Test the QR code to make sure it scans.
  7. Share and distribute your QR code.
  8. Track and analyze performance.

QR CODE MARKETING STRATEGY

To end as with any Social Media and Marketing process, it pays to have a strategy in place. Including taking into consideration the following questions 
  • Who you want to attract (your ideal prospective and/or existing clients)
