We are living in an opportune era in which building an online
presence has never been made easier and has become the most cost-effective way
of marketing. Now is the best time to grab the opportunity of building your
online presence, especially as Social Media and LinkedIn are all free
platforms. We are living on borrowed land and territory, which is increasingly
turning into platforms where we will in the near future have to pay more to
play, to gain brand recognition and to compete against larger companies.
Building an Online Presence beats local community advertising,
enables your brand to reach a wider audience and global audiences via Google,
Youtube, Social and Professional Platforms.
By nature, we are most of us are curious human beings. The moment
we see someone online most of us are tempted to learn more about the person.
This curiosity leads most of us to automatically click on the person's profile,
website and social media links. This then leads to the opportunity of gaining
potential prospective clients, especially the person feels you can help them.
If you are not
frequently building your online presence the likelihood is that you are missing
out on making your brand more visible to a wider and global audience. Also
missing out on helping people would benefit from receiving your help.
As the saying goes,
it's not about you. It more about what you have to offer.
Some of we remain
trapped by our own self-limiting beliefs including fears of what other people
will think about us. These thoughts then limit your opportunity to be able to
serve and add valid to the limited number of people, who would value what you

- Ensure to include your own personal profile picture in your LinkedIn and Social Media Profiles. People like to connect to real people and it builds immediate trust. Also helps in building credibility and helps with reputation management.
- Update Content on a Regular Basis: If you have a website/blog site, landing page ensure to update it on a regular basis with fresh content.
- Get on Social Media and if you have an account ensure to update it on a regular basis. If you don’t it will appear as though you are no longer operating.
- Post educational and informative content and not hard-sell type content which will deter people from wanting to learn more about you and what you have to offer.
- Engage with other people in your Niche Market on their own post threads. Offer educational and helpful responses. This can potentially help you to also automatically connect with more people, who are curious to learn more about you.
- Facebook or LinkedIn Community Groups take the opportunity to join 2-3 active groups which align with your core values and Niche Market, where you can genuinely share your skills and knowledge and help others.
- Build Genuine Relationships: If someone is not interested in your product/service offer, do not break off the engagement immediately. This comes across as being inauthentic and as though your intentions were only to sell and to benefit you. People want to know that you genuinely care about them. A “No Today,” could potentially turn into a “Yes,”tomorrow or down the line as they get to know like and trust you.
- Ensure to Cross-Promote your content on 2-3 Social and Professional Platforms to increase your reach to a wider audience, including online community groups.
- Pay-to-play sometimes it pays to use Paid Ads to promote your services and products. Reason being is that it enables you to reach a more targeted and responsive audience within your Niche Market.
- Perfection Does Not Pay – Are you waiting for the perfect moment, to produce perfect pictures/video content? The best thing you can do us show up as you. You will grow in skills and confidence the more you show up. If you make mistakes (typos, or forget what to say); the question you have to ask yourself is that really the worst thing that could happen?
Focus on your grander purpose and reason why you got interested
in started your online business venture in the first place. A greater purpose
beyond your immediate financial gain and family needs. A meaningful purpose
that will give you sufficient drive and purpose to keep showing up regardless
and will help you persevere through the challenging times.
Build it and they will come?
This is not so much the case about building your online business.
It takes showing up, being consistent with content creation/delivery.
Additionally, implementing follow up processes including automated
sales funnels. Just because someone likes your content, service/product offer
does not mean they will become an automatic buyer.
